[India]
I was hanging out at back of a political rally. A couple hours went by, and I’m sure there isn’t a person who would have wanted to stay with me as long as I sat there.
Almost all my travel has been alone. People ask me why I enjoy traveling by myself. “Don’t you miss having someone to share it with?” Rarely. I love not having my travel filtered though others perceptions. And when alone, the odds are enhanced for every kind of interesting experience and interaction with local people. There’s a huge freedom. No negotiations, no compromise, no need to talk so much with my companions about the nature of mutually satisfying activities.
I have a great wife, two awfully nice kids, many friends, an extended family, and a job that has me being with people all day. I don’t need others for these trips.
